Licenced Security staff and Door Supervisors are being threatened and attacked regularly by people with weapons, usually bladed articles.
Judges are seen to regularly give alternative sentences for those found guilty of committing these crimes.
No one is 'trained' to be threatened with a deadly weapon and no one, certainly not Security staff or Door Supervisors, are paid enough to accept this as part of the job.
We the undersigned, call for the minimum sentencing guidelines for those found guilty of making threats of violence while in possession of a weapon, whether this be verbal or physical threats, to be updated to include a minimum starting point of Six months imprisonment.
The hundreds of thousands of Security industry licenced Security and Door staff in this country are what stands between a successful and productive night time economy worth Billions in revenue and a failed night time economy worth a lot less.
It is time they were backed by the Justice system.
