Why this petition matters

Started by Stevie Cade

our dress code at Millikan High School and at schools throughout the long beach unified school district has become unfair and unjust. we have been restricted of our individuality and our ability to express ourselves. while i agree that students should not come to school in overly revealing clothing, i don’t think it should effect a students right to learn if they wear a tank top when it’s close to 100 degrees outside. i have also noticed that girls get dress coded a lot more often then boys do, just because they think our bodies are a distraction, but what if girls get distracted by the boys bodies too or if boys get distracted by other boys bodies. for a school located in southern california AND to add rapid climate change on top of it with most classrooms not having air conditioning, how do you expect students to actively learn while they are trying not to pass out from heat exhaustion, i have personally experienced this multiple times in class. my goal is to get enough signatures to be able to present to the school board so they can listen to our opinions and ideas and maybe get some teachers support on it as well. thank you for joining or listening to the cause. LETS MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!!!!!!
