Because I agree with the comments and you have to take into fact most officers don't get off on time as well. If an officer makes an arrest 5 minutes from the end of their shift then they are basically forced to stay on for another 2-3hours

The rosta should make every effort to allow work/life balance to be more humane. We want happy, fulfilled Officers, not tired unhappy blokes that have rubbish shift patterns. Have some regard for the boys who do the things the rest of us wouldn't do and I speak as a shift worker myself, providing a service to the public out of hours. Make it more bearable for our lads for goodness sake!

Because the new rota is too exhausting and because of tiredness I just don't get enough time with my family

I'm signing because a family member works for the Met and I can see first hand how hard our officers work and how important it is for them to have adequate rest days.

My brother experiences limited sleep, limited social life and limited down time due to these working hours.

I am suffering this terrible roster. It is exhausting, unfair on both officers and their family, more expensive over the year to come into work, and a significant factor in bringing down morale and boosting up sickness.
