Used to live in the city of trees. Trips to Victoria Park downtown were a treat. I hope it's not ruined by development.

Victoria Park is an integral part of London downtown. It is a primary gathering place for Londoners. It is also a small piece of green space where there is little in the downtown core.

London is supposed to be The Forest City and the proposed high rise development around Victoria Park would destroy the urban forest in the park for humans, animals and the magnificent trees themselves. Shame on the city of London if this is allowed to proceed... also, think of all the birds that would die flying into high rise windows if these buildings are built. In this day and age, so many of London’s policies are counter/anti environment. (The planned destruction of the Huron Woods by turning the Huron Street stream into an enclosed sewer is another example of this lack of protection of natural green spaces in the city.) What are our collective priorities in this city...? Victoria Park and the surrounding neighbourhood is truly the heart of the city and surrounding it with high rises would be inexcusable. I would not support a city council that would allow this to happen!

The reasons for not approving this application, if you read them, are way more compelling than the additional tax dollars we would enjoy.

this park means so much to our city and is a part of what people see and think of when they think of london. it is what makes our downtown more cultural and local feeling rather than industrial and a concrete district

Because if we set the rules then developers can work to them and we can have more of what is already good and not fear that with each new investor we have to work to stop them before they get it and value what we are besides a chance at profit.
