Paula Sunely-Charles started this petition to London Borough of Redbridge Planning Department

Chester Road in Wanstead is a quiet, tree-lined road of Edwardian terraced houses. The majority are owner-occupied by families with young and growing children and couples who have lived there for decades after bringing up their own families.

Planning permission has been applied for to convert no 33 Chester Road, E11 2JR into an HMO for up to 8 people in 5 units. This will not only change the character of the road but it will cause overcrowding - with the attendant fire risk. It will also increase the need for parking where there is no off-street parking. The amount of rubbish and number of wheelie bins will increase with multiple occupancy. With 8 people living in one house there will, inevitably, be more noise. The residents of Chester Road and those roads in its immediate vicinity believe this will have a negative impact on the street and environment.

If this planning permission goes ahead, it opens the door for other HMOs in the surrounding streets. This will have a negative impact on the character of Wanstead.

Please sign our petition and stop the erosion of affordable family dwellings in Wanstead before it's too late. Thank you.
