Since the Greenway has been open 24/7, there have been regular reports of muggings and assaults along it. This path is a crucial local amenity and transport link, and has a huge part to play in helping local people stay connected and healthy, but people won't use it if it isn't safe.
CCTV was installed on the path before 24 hour opening was allowed to commence, but people who have been robbed and assaulted along it have been told that it isn't working.
We call on Newham Council and the Metropolitan Police to work together to ensure that there is a properly resourced strategy to keep users of the Greenway safe at all times of day.
