Stop the Bluegrass Pipeline

This petition had 1,215 supporters

Williams and Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, a subsidiary of Loews Corporation/Loews Hotels, is threatening legislators and landowners in the beautiful state of Kentucky with eminent domain to construct a toxic liquids pipeline, which if built, will precariously carry 400,000 barrels per day of Natural Gas liquids through a geologically fragile area ( Karst geology).  Of the many liquids they intend to transport is benzene, a known carcinogen.  There is virtually no Federal, State or local oversight of this process and this company has a very blemished safety record.  They have proven that they cannot manage this process, yet seek to continue spoiling the earth.   One leak could threaten the lives of many, destroy the land for thousands of years and threaten native flora and fauna.   The proposed route will disturb valuable agrigultural zones that have been farmed for generations.  This proposed pipeline will traverse Karst country which is prone to geological disturbances and sinkholes.  The earth in this region is not suitable to support a toxic pipeline.  In fact, no part of this earth should ever be exposed to forced toxicity.

A company that provides hospitality should not be in the business of destroying the earth.   There is more to life than money.  If our farmlands, forests and wetlands are destroyed, so is our food chain. A list of Loews Hotels can be found at
