Nickie Demos taught physical education at Locust Valley Junior-Senior High School from 1969-2003. She coached track for 36 years and for the past five years has coached as a volunteer. In addition to track, Nickie coached junior high and varsity gymnastics for 15 years, cheerleading for 15 years and varsity volleyball for 28 years. Nickie had a career record of 270 wins and 133 losses for a 67 percent winning record. Her athletes attained 260 All-Conference winners, 127 All-County winners (52 first-place recipients), 52 state competitors, 12 All-State, six undefeated seasons and two All-County teams. Her coaching honors include 2002-2003 New York State Track and Field Coach of the Year, 1999-2000 Nassau County Coach of the Year by Nassau County officials, 1995 Crown Trophy Award – Women in Sports on Long Island, and 2000-2001 Locust Valley “Falcon Pride” Community Award. Coach Demos is a devoted member of the Locust Valley Track program and has continued to be a part of our family as a volunteer since she retired. This past spring track season, she has suddenly lost all privileges to assist the team. After over 40 years of love, support, and dedication, Coach Demos deserves to stand along side the track team. Support our track teams and help us get our wonderful volunteer coach back where she belongs : with her family.
