Save Whitaker Park

Whitaker Park is a historical location in the Village of Lockland, just ask anyone who has lived here.  The park was created to memorialize David Lee and Angela Marie Whitaker who died tragically in a fire on January 2, 1984.  The memorial for them reads "When the voices of children are heard on the green and laughing is heard on the hill, my heart is at rest within my breast and everything else is still." This park was made for children to play and families to spend time together.  We need to preserve the memory of two little lives that were taken.  I purposed a plan to create a new play area for children that includes sensory areas, handicap accessible swings and play areas and a small community garden.  This new area will be made from all up-cycled materials and the only thing the village council has to do to support the idea and allow for grants/donations to be requested on behalf of the Village community if needed.  It will be community ran and maintained, it wouldn't cost the village any money to build.  The best part about the community garden it can bridge the hunger gap in our community and teach children how to do something other than take a selfie.  The water needed for the garden will be recycled rainwater and all natural fertilizer.  Security is a concern ... we can get a grant from the National Drug Enforcement Agency to put cameras in and we can get a grant to run the entire park from one solar panel (including the bathrooms and security lights).  We need your support to save the park.. sign the petition and don't let the memory of David and Angela Whitaker become another empty lot.
