All Seniors Deserve Banners

All Seniors Deserve Banners

My name is Lynsey, I am a senior at Moorcroft High School. Our school provides a banner for all of our athletic seniors (Basketball, Wrestling, Golf, Rodeo, Track, Volleyball, Cross Country, Football). The school does not allow managers of the teams, Special O students, nor high achieved academic students. It is discrimination. Allowing only athletes to get a banner shows that the school is caring more about sports rather than leading students to other successful routes in life.
I have been part of a wrestling family for the last at least 10 years. My freshman year of high school I chose to manage for the high school wrestling team. I made a promise to the coach that I would stay as a manager till I walked across the stage on graduation day. In return, I was promised to walk out Senior night with the athletes and to get a banner. When the athletes were getting their banner pictures taken I was told by my counselor that MHS has never done a banner for managers, and even though I was part of the team for four years I will be stripped from the banner privilege.
I have been putting as much work in as the boys for the team. I may not step out on the mat but the background work that happens equals out to what the boys go through. I have the right to get a banner. In fact, all seniors have the right to get a banner. Wither it be for a sport, club, or an achievement throughout their high school career.
I have started this petition in hope to get the school to not just get me a banner for managing, but to start recognizing all the seniors or stopping the banners altogether
