I am a transgender student at a local high school here in Saint Louis and I am trying to combat transphobia within my school regarding my graduation. At my school for gradation, the guys wear red robes and the girls wear white robes, and if I don’t wear the white robe, I won’t be able to walk on graduation night. I’m petitioning to change the rule to everyone wears red so no student feels the way I do in the future. Along with that, I want to remove the white option all together because it symbolizes purity and virgins, a sexist standard for the female students. By signing this petition, I am hoping my school will see the support I have and finally make a change. Thank you very much.
