Supporting local kids to get outdoors
Our kids are at risk.
MRI scans show significant differences in the brains of children who report using smartphones, tablets, and video games more than seven hours a day. Even children who report more than two hours a day of screen time get lower scores on thinking and language tests according to the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study by The National Institute of Mental Health in the US.
Conversely, active kids have stronger muscles and bones, leaner bodies, less risk of becoming overweight, a lower chance of getting type 2 diabetes, lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels and a better outlook on life.
We owe it to our kids to do everything we can to keep them active.
The Stirling Bike Park is a living, breathing example of the community and local government coming together for the benefit of our children.
