Why this petition matters

On October 23, 2021 the NY Post released an article titled “Videos capture extent of student brawls at Queens high school.” The article depicts violent images of students fighting.  While many details in the article are not true, the following is: “Officials said Cardozo is “fully staffed with school safety agents,” but a spokesman for  Teamsters Local 237, the union that represents the safety agents, said security has been slashed: Before the pandemic, the school had 11 to 13 agents and one supervisor. Now, that’s down to just four agents and the supervisor.” To read the full true statement regarding the NY Post article, please click here (will insert link). Cardozo High School has over 3,300 students.

As parents we must petition our leaders to protect our children! In a time where violence in New York City is on the rise, it is unacceptable that the New York City Department of Education does not see the urgency in protecting our children. Although Cardozo is a safe school and our numbers of incidents have decreased significantly in the last few years, we need to continue to keep our students and staff safe. Please sign this petition to notify our DOE representatives and elected leaders to act immediately and make our schools safe!
