In 2003-2004 school year the board of Education decided to change the local high schools Mascot.  It was turned around because of signatures.  Lets make our voice heard!!  Sign this to get the attention of the Okemos School Board its the only way the Mascot will remain the same! I voted no the first time around and I will gladly vote no again this time the town honors Chief Okemos its in the history books please let future youth know how the town came to be!!  This is a passion of mine will you join me and fight the school board and keep the Chieftians??   P. S  Here is  a little history lesson changing the term “mascot” to “nickname” to be more accurate of how the Chiefs/ Chieftains term has been used by the schools for decades.

I am a former Graduate from Okemos High School Class 2003.  During that time when I was in school we never used the Chieftian as a Mascot/ Nickname instead we used the hooded Bandit as our Mascot. I am asking all of you to preserve the name Okemos and the Nickname for future Genrations.  Please I am doing this for Chief Okemos  and our town which was named after him.
