Section 10 of Republic Act 9211 "prohibits the sale and distribution of tobacco products within 100 meters from any point of the perimeter of a school, public playground, or other facility frequented by minors."

As of now, it is highly questionable if this project of the government already reached every corner and places of our country. Outside our school premises, there are undeniably sellers of the cigarettes and tobacco. Stores around schools especially in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija seems to be not aware of the Republic Act that was implemented last July 23, 2017. The local government should take an action regarding this issue.

We observed that majority of the buyers of tobaccos and cigarettes around school are students. Also, students that are non- smokers might be a second hand smoker if they inhaled smokes coming from cigarettes. Smokers around school has a great impact to the health of students.

Smoking can lead to serious health problems. We, the students of Nueva Ecija Senior High School are concerned about the health and the possible effects of smoking to the smokers and second hand smokers.
