We call on local Councillors and MP's to lobby government to stop the cuts to Further Education and to invest properly in lifelong learning for all.

We note the decision of the government to cut the English adult further education budget for 2015/16, once funding for apprenticeships is excluded, by 24%. This enormous cut in funding will decimate further education provision, leave millions of the most vulnerable adults without access to any opportunity to improve their education or retrain and put thousands of FE jobs at risk.
We call upon our local Councillors and MP's to lobby the government not to implement these cuts and to instead invest properly in lifelong learning opportunities for all.’The net public benefit of an individual being educated to tertiary level is 13 per cent, meaning that for every pound invested beyond secondary education, £1.13 is returned to the UK economy. On a personal level, better educated people are more likely to be happy and healthy, and contribute more to wider society.
The cuts have a direct effect on the economy and communities of Plymouth and continued cuts could lead to closures of colleges. This is something that would devastate Plymouth and cannot be allowed to happen.
