it gave me access to a world upon which I have built a very successful career and opportunities I would otherwise never have known were an option. On a daily basis I see the wonder and joy live performance brings to all ages and abilities, professional and amateur, audience and performer and all of the backstage support which goes into making shows. It is a medium which crosses boundaries and unites peoples. It creates societies. It is a bedrock of civilised existence.

Our eldest son Jim Leaver gained experience at Melton Theatre and is a now a leading Production Manager with the National Theatre setting up the British productions which lead world theatre. Don't let this fantastic asset to our way of life
and the economy close down.

Everyone should have access to a theatre. Whether that be on a grand scale, or just a small village theatre. It’s what keeps a community alive. It’s a beating heart of the economies system.

We have been to many performances at Melton theatre since I was a child. I have also been on stage myself! My daughter still performs with her dances school and we just love the panto season down there. It’s part of our Christmas ritual. For the theatre to close would cause much sadness, for those that use it as entertainment and also for those that entertain.

Over the last couple of years myself and friends have also watched comedy acts and music acts here too. Surely it cannot close.

Finally, my dad took to the stage several years ago and to not see him perform would break my children’s hearts.

The local theatre has provided a valuable platform to champion young people’s talent in drama, dance , music - it would be incredibly sad to lose such an amazing facility. The young generation will most certainly miss out.
