Petticoat Bridge was the site of numerous skirmishes that proved pivotal in luring the Hessian troops south from Trenton in late December 1776. Roughly 2,400 Hessian troops faced a few hundred Americans. This battle was crucial to turning the tide of the American Revolution and securing our independence. Today, this 197 acre site is in jeopardy of being sold and developed, erasing a critical piece of our history.

Burlington County played an integral role throughout the American Revolution. Unfortunately, it is all too often left out of the history books. It is time for that to change. Not only Burlington County residents, but people throughout the United States need to be informed of what took place and how it impacted the future of our nation. Without the events of our county, the outcome of the war could have been very different.

Today, there are no Revolutionary War preserved battlefield sites in Burlington County. Saving Petticoat Bridge Battlefield from development is the chance we have to recognize the sacrifices of those who fought, honor their memory, and educate the nation on the importance of these events. This is our chance to save the site for future generations before it is lost forever!
