Good evening, I am hoping you can help me, along with hundreds of other local fisherman, starting this petition with sadness, I have just learned that Dover harbour board will not be reopening the admiralty pier for locals to fish from. This pier has been used by fisherman, young and old for a very long time, fishing is not only a pastime but a way to keep youngsters out of trouble and the older generation a place to relax and enjoy the fishing they have done for many many years. Dover harbour board are taking every fishing venue in Dover from Dover people and many locals from neighbouring towns, there was once three places to fish from in Dover, the two piers and the breakwater, they closed everyone of them. Please would you support something that is good for Dover and it’s people, and the people’s children, so they can have a place to go and take up a sport/hobby that is not causing trouble in the streets, and that does not involve sitting on a couch with games console. The fresh air is good for people’s health and getting out of the house is good for mental health, especially in these difficult times. Not only is this one of the best fishing venues in the U.K., it has a place in history that sits close to the hearts of local people.
