Darren Grant started this petition to LOCAL GOVERNMENT and

Stormont have forgotten about the independent retail shops who still are allowed to trade with no support and no customers out shopping a massive down turn in trade since March. Those businesses who are now open during a second wave is hitting the self employed and retail shops so much times harder.

With no people venturing out for lunch or coffees or attending beauty/hair appointments, or those who are simply too scared to go out (which is entirely understandable with the high rates of infections), all passing trade has gone and many businesses will surely close by the end of the year with nothing more than massive debts to pay. There will be many more job losses happening across all of retail, self employed and especially the independents, leading to the death of local retail shopping.

I feel more should be done and we need to speak out for all of the independent retailers, the self employed people and see what support our government can do to help us. We need to put pressure on our local representatives and the finance minister, to remember these types of small business owners and people slipping through the cracks, who work so hard for a living, for nothing more than to support their families and continue to be part of a local community and provide a service, but know they can never compete against the likes of corporate retail giants which is slowly killing the high street.

Please sign our petition for local government to do more to help support the little guys and raise awareness that we are suffering. We need help. Or we won't be here much longer.
