The goal for this petition is to show our local government that people would be interested in bringing a tourist railroad to our county. It would bring in tourists and would be a great tourist attraction for our county. The railroad would be a great way to draw people to our county; people will comes from miles around to ride an old train. It would be a way to interact with the areas coal and railroad histories. The planned ride would take passengers from the former site of the Jewell Ridge tipple and coal camp down to Wyatt, an area just east of Whitewood. The county already has the track leased from Norfolk Southern from a previous attempt that was given up on.  If we can get this started, this would be the only tourist railroad in the state.
