Stop the council from renaming North Down and Ards borough

Stop the council from renaming North Down and Ards borough

"There is no such place as North Down and Ards" "It's Ards and North Down and always has been since 2015" - Ards Alderman Jimmy Menagh
Controversially in 2015 when the council areas were merged, a number of Councillors, against public opinion, believed they had successfully forced through a change of name for our borough from 'North Down and Ards' to 'Ards and North Down'.
It came as a surprise to many as Ards is far from the largest stakeholder in our borough and outside of closed chambers this decision was both unpopular and many believed unwarranted. For years we have been told in no uncertain terms that it was tough luck and that we should deal with it and move on.
It has recently come to light however that they did not have the power to enact their little coup as it can only be changed by the Northern Ireland's Boundary Commissioner and only if they believe the move to be justified. As of Today, legally we are still North Down and Ards.
According to the Bangor Spectator the council are planning to write to Ms Havlin the Boundary Commissioner to once again try to force through this change.
So with renewed hope I launch this petition to ask Ms Havlin to reject any such proposals from North Down and Ards Borough Council and to insist that they use it's correct legal name in all future dealings and correspondence.
