Prospect Park, Reading to become a safer place for men, women and children

I live in Reading very close to Prospect Park. I am very worried about the state of the park.
I have lived here 3 years and I know that the park has some dark history but it feels like over the 6-12 months we are hearing of repeated serious events in the park and I would like something to be done about it to make it a safer place for everyone to be.
In the last year, I know that there have been at least 4 sexual assaults/rapes as well as a shooting. We have had repeated problems with travellers in different parts of the park sometimes for weeks on end at a time. There are frequent reports of faeces on the childrens play equipment which puts a lot of parents off letting their kids play in what looks like a really well equipped ground.
It really upset me to hear of the latest attacks on teenage girls last Monday. As a community, I know there is an appetite to do something about this park.
Off the top of my head, I am thinking CCTV, better lighting and maybe a security patrol or park warden with plenty of security notices through the park ensuring potential attackers know this area is not rich, easy pickings.
Please help clear up this park by signing this petition.
