Why this petition matters

Started by Ava Azizi

There is a proposed development project in our neighborhood (at the Our Lady of Mt. Lebanon Church) that is incredibly concerning.  The project will develop the existing Church at 331-333 S. San Vicente Boulevard & 8531-8555 Burton Way, Los Angeles, CA 90048 into a towering 19-story residential building with a very large event space.

We are asking you to do 2 things:  First please sign this petition.  Second, please email Paul Caporaso at paul.caporaso@lacity.org ASAP to voice your objections by June 28, 2021.  Please reference environmental case number ENV-2019-1857-EIR “OUR LADY OF MT. LEBANON PROJECT.”

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE:

  • The proposed construction will bring 5 years of construction to our neighborhood.  That's 5 years of dirt/dust, LOUD pounding and excavation (current plans to dig underground), extra traffic and congestion.
  • The expected noise from the construction is well above what the CDC and The World Health Organization have determined as safe sound exposure.  What does this mean?  Aside from a terrible headache, it could translate to hearing loss especially for certain vulnerable populations (young, developing children for instance).  And, now that more people are working from home, this brings challenges to those that need to conduct their business from home.  It would also make it challenging for many of the staff at Cedars who live in the area and work the night shift, to catch up on their sleep during the day.
  • The proposed event space would be one of the largest in the area, which would mean on event days, there would be a ton of vendors loading in for the event and an influx of cars of guests at the event.  The area does not have the proper parking infrastructure or loading docks to support this activity.  If you think parking is hard to find in the area, this will make it worse.
  • The development would bring an additional 170 residents to the area (which could translate to 340 extra cars).  Imagine the extra traffic and congestion in our area.

Please make your voice heard and sign this petition that you do NOT support the current development, as currently planned.  More importantly, please email Paul Caporaso at paul.caporaso@lacity.org ASAP to voice your objections by June 28, 2021.  Please reference environmental case number ENV-2019-1857-EIR “OUR LADY OF MT. LEBANON PROJECT.”

It's critical that people speak up ASAP in order to stop the project and/or mitigate the effects of it.
