Alexis Steward started this petition to Anna Police Department and

     In light of the recent worldwide protests of police brutality, the targeting of the black community and police accountability, UnHeard Inc. NFP will be sending the following message to our elected officials and local police in hopes that they will put in place the necessary changes to the Anna-Jonesboro police departments and Union County Sheriffs office.
       As one group of many thousands of peaceful protesters, we would like to share some ideas to make change and better the relationship between police officers and the community.
   Many cities have already addressed these policies and we would like to know, publicly, if Anna-Jonesboro IL has or plans to enact any of these policies.
     With the support of the public and cooperation of the departments we can be the change needed in OUR community.

     We want to open a dialogue and work towards a resolution of these issues and concerns.
    The #8CantWait policies have been studied and proven to decrease policy brutality by 72% in communities. These eight policies include;

• Ban Chokeholds and Strangleholds
• Require Warning Before Shooting
• Require De-escalation
• Require Exhaust All Alternatives Before Shooting
• Duty to Intervene
• Ban Shooting at Moving Vehicles
• Require Comprehensive Reporting
• Have Use of Force Continuum

    UnHeard Inc. NFP wants to be informed on your current policies and/or what changes your departments plan to make. We believe that if any political leaders are truly invested in protecting black lives or any life, they should adopt the #8CANTWAIT policies.
