I love the ocean, I always have, but plastic dumping into our world's water systems is putting both our, and all marines species', livelihoods at stake. Every year over 8 million metric tons of plastic are dumped into our world's oceans, killing animals and creating a toxic inhospitable environment. It is up to make a change, but just stopping the amount of plastic we are using does not solve the crisis that we are already facing.

Plastic Eating Bacteria, Ideonella Sakaiensis, is the hero we have been waiting for in the battle of plastic in our oceans, being the only bacteria known for being about to fully decompose and destroy plastic! The bacteria creates an enzyme that strips polyurethane to its simplest form, then proceeding to eat it for energy by which the process will be repeated. This bacteria is a miracle but is still in the development stages of its life, with insufficient government funding meaning that it could be up to 10 years till it could be used safely in our oceans.

That's where you come in, people have power, and with the support of local communities, the government will have to listen. Allowing the development of this ocean-saving bacteria to go from a 10-year timeline to a lot shorter one. I love our oceans, but they need help, and the development of Plastic eating bacteria is the solution. PLEASE SUPPORT!
