Loblaw Companies Limited is a major Canadian corporation of whose subsidiaries include Real Canadian Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart. The Executive Chairman is well known Canadian businessmen Galen Weston and corporate earnings hover around a billion dollars annually.
Recently Loblaw accepted a $12 million handout from the federal government to help make their refrigerators more energy efficient. Last year Loblaw reported a profit of $754 million attributable to common shareholders and is backed by some of Canada's wealthiest people, most notably Galen Weston. We do not believe that taxpayers should be burdened with financing what a very successful company could and should be doing on it's own dime. If you agree with this position please sign this petition and urge Loblaws to give the money back to Canadian taxpayers.
