Bangladesh is home to a booming garment industry. However, workers face pathetic and dangerous working conditions. This couldn't be more evident than this week's collapse of a textile factory in Bangladesh, which has killed over 1100 people.
Canadian clothing retailer Joe Fresh, owned by Loblaw is one of many clothing lines that source work out to 3rd world countries, including Bangladesh.
Tell Loblaw to demand better working conditions for textile workers in 3rd world countries, including stricter building codes and better enforcement as well a living wage. Currently, textile workers in Bangladesh earn on average 14 cents an hour.
Workers must be able to work in a safe environment and be compensated fairly!
