When Lake Mohawk was established back in the 1920s, it was a very different time. People flocked away from the big city to take a deep breath and get back to nature. Today, the area still speaks to that part of many people and as popularity of the lake area has grown, so has the demand on the roads. Additionally, it seems some of the hectic of modern times has crept in leading to increased speed, distracted drivers focused on phones and not the road.

We ask that you sign this petition if you, too, are concerned about road safety along East Shore trail and other roads in and around Lake Mohawk including the plaza area. If you would like to see measures taken to increase safety that may include lower speed limits, stop signs, striping and cross walk areas in heavy-use locations, widening and visibility improvements where applicable, roundabouts, and enforcement efforts. This is a first step in gathering a consensus of stakeholders to approach LMCC, the town, and county officials in an organized way to increase road safety.
