District #3 Community Petition Against Rezoning of Location: 2001 Dogwood Drive
This petition created by the community of District #3. We are not in agreement with the rezoning of R2/-Single Family property along/around Dogwood Drive, Covington Ga/Newton County to be converted into R-2(Single Family Residential)/Tier 2 of the Almon Overlay.
Rezoning concerns; Increase Traffic/Congestion, NOISE Level right next to Iris Brook Subdivision, Crime, Pollution/Garbage, Property Taxes, Future rezoning opportunities, Decrease in Property values of District #3
This petition is IN OPPOSITION to REZ20-000011, the proposed rezoning of 28.73 North across railroad Land Use: Undeveloped Land, Newton County
Zoning: R2 (Single Family Residential). Many residents in the IRIS BROOKS and several other neighborhoods are completely opposed to the addition of the warehouse that will cause traffic and safety problems, create even more problems with destroy local wildlife habitat, and lower the property values of the existing community and the NOISE LEVEL would be unbearable.
Heavy noise level at all times: Night and Day. The citizens were promised a NOISE barrier that has not materialized. Has there been a study to see if the bridge (infrastructure) could with stand all of the industrial vehicles? Did we have a Highway/Bridge inspection done? Do you think the residents of Iris Brook would have purchased their $300 to $400 thousand dollar homes knowing that this Lidl warehouse would be built in their back yard? They were NOT made aware that a Lidl Warehouse would be nestled up against there subdivision. Commissioners, you voted in favor of this land development, would you want this in your back yard? Why is it that most of the development that is occurring, is in District 3 and it's AFFECTING predominantly African Americans? Was a traffic study done and how can you get a accurate traffic study during a pandemic? In closing, WE the citizens, as a community ask, implore, beg the Board of Commissioners of Newton County Georgia to do the right thing.
