Call on Liverpool FC to terminate its deal with Chinese company, Tibet Water Resources Ltd
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000.
On 24 July 2017, Liverpool FC signed a deal with a Chinese water company that profits from operating in occupied Tibet, making Tibet Water Resources Limited the club's Official Regional Water Partner in China.
Despite its name, Tibet Water Resources Limited is a Chinese company that bottles and sells water from Tibet; a country that has been under Chinese occupation since 1950.
Tibetans are subject to rampant human rights violations, including torture, enforced disappearances, excessive use of force against peaceful demonstrators, restrictions on freedom of religion, movement, expression, association and assembly as well as curbs on their cultural rights.
Freedom House, the US based think tank, has ranked Tibet as the second worst place in the world in terms of civil and political rights. To put this in perspective, Syria is currently ranked as number one.
The partnership was signed, despite a statement issued by the club in November 2016, that Liverpool FC “has fostered and continues to foster an organisational culture that respects dignity and human rights” and that “conducting business with high ethical standards is fundamental to this culture.”
Tell Liverpool FC that the current deal lends legitimacy to China’s military occupation and the abuses that help prop it up!
Call on the club to terminate its agreement with Tibet Water Resources Ltd.

I write to you to express my deep concern at the recent partnership between Liverpool FC and Tibet Water Resources Limited.
Tibet is a country that has been under occupation since 1950 and Tibetans have even their most basic human rights denied on a daily basis. Freedom House, the US based think tank, has ranked Tibet as the second worst place in the world in terms of civil and political rights. Syria is currently ranked as number one.
Maintaining this partnership will only will serve to reward and lend legitimacy to China's occupation of the territory, its crackdown on human rights and the exploitation of Tibet’s natural resources by Chinese companies.
In line with Liverpool FC’s commitment to human rights and high ethical standards of business, we believe that this deal undermines your club’s values and responsibilities.
We are therefore calling on you to:
▪ Terminate the agreement with Tibet Water Resources Ltd.
