Michael Lindberg started this petition to Liverpool City Council and

So one of our most loved venues in Liverpool is under threat by the inevitable noise complaints they will receive off of the new property development that is being built right next to the venue. The Liverpool city council, according to the venue, is considering letting this property development install windows on the venue side of the building, full well knowing how loud this venue can be. It's completely unjust and unfair that the venue should be the victims in this situation, they were there first and provide an amazing space for music lovers to perform and attend, 24 kitchen street provides probably the most diverse music from a span of all types of music and its a hub for culture, it's a great place to meet new people that like the same kind of music you like and no matter what genre really. Kitchen street isn't the only venue that has suffered from noise complaints from new builds too, Constellations has also been said to shut down this coming may for the same reason. It's really not fair for these property developers to be shutting down our music and our culture for the sake of building new apartments for their own financial gain. Although the 'Agent of change' has been adopted, I learned in recently in a panel discussion that the agent of change is not a new law but merely a suggestion to developers to take venues into consideration, thus not ensuring the protection of these venues. Our grassroots venues mean a lot to the music lovers of the city, please don't let them be taken away for someone else financial gain, Thanks.
