As at 30 June 2016, the all-day parking rate in Liverpool's Northumberland Street carpark was $7.00 all day.
That's $35.00 x 52 = $1,820.00 a year.
As at 30 June 2017, the all-day parking rate in Liverpool's Northumberland Street carpark was $7.36 all day with a $0.06 surcharge for credit card payments.
That's $36.8 x 52 = $1,913.60 a year.
As at 3 July 2017, the all-day parking rate in Liverpool's Northumberland Street carpark was $10.00 all day with a $0.08 surcharge for credit card payments.
That's $50.40 x 52 = $2,620.80 a year to park in a sub-standard parking facility.
That's an overnight increase of 36.98% which is definitely higher than the regulated CPI increase rate allowed.
Northumberland Car Park is one structurally questionable, disgustingly dirty and a completely vandalised mess yet we still park there as it's the most convenient and 10% safer than other parking areas in Liverpool so it's unfathomable to justify a 36.98% increase.
When members of Liverpool who utilise the parking facility called Liverpool Council to enquire about the steep increase they were told it's for completed upgrades and were reminded the Mayor has taken a pay-cut deeming the pay-cut as "unfair", which was completely irrelevant.
Like the petition to show Liverpool City Council that they should reconsider this steep increase as it's not going to only affect everyone's wallets, but also the safety of those who have to trek it around the streets of Liverpool at night to commute home as they have no other choice to find alternative parking.
P.S - You might want to amend your website to reflect the sudden changes to parking rates.
P.S.S - Oh, and you might want to start injecting the revenue into the parking meters so society has an option to pay by coins and not be forced to pay by card which ends up in your own pockets.
