NO to Rezoning of R-2 Property Behind Buffalo Wild Wings on Highway 10 in West Little Rock
Rees Development proposes to rezone approximately 5 acres in West Little Rock from R-2 Single Family District to commercial Retail/Office space. This residential property is known as Lowe Addition and located adjacent to the east side of the 47-home Village at Ison Creek and north of Buffalo Wild Wings on Highway 10/Cantrell Road.
We oppose rezoning of this property as commercial property or apartments, and we support only development of single-family housing in accordance with both the existing City of Little Rock Zoning Plan and Land Use Plan. We ask the Little Rock Planning Department, the Planning Commission, the Little Rock City Board, and Mayor Frank Scott Jr. to support residents of this area and reject the commercial development.
Residents in Village at Ison Creek invested in homes with the understanding the adjacent property was zoned R-2 and would ultimately include only single-family residential development. Residents of Waterside Drive have invested more than $5 million in lot purchases and home construction, while Rees Development affiliates invested only $210,000 on the R-2 land in question. Property rights of the homeowners should be protected.
The proposed commercial development calls for 158 parking spaces with businesses that would add substantial daytime traffic congestion to the intersection of Highway 10 and Rahling Road, which already suffers from poor traffic flow and dangerous adjacent retail/office/restaurant shopping center entrances.
By signing this petition, we oppose any effort to rezone the Lowe Addition in West Little Rock from R-2 to any type of apartment or commercial property.
