Ray Segebrecht started this petition to City Comissioner Lisa Larsen (llarsen@lawrenceks.org) and

The Lawrance City Commission approved a new concrete water tower in the middle of the Stratford Water Tower Park along with a concrete road through the park.

This would lead to the destruction of approximately 7500 ft.² of green space, 10 beautiful trees, the homes of countless birds (including cardinal families) and animals and half of the baseball/soccer field at the Stratford Water Tower Park.

It would block access to the outdoor gathering space of the entire park for over a year in the middle of a pandemic, when such free and safe green space is essential for healthy communities to thrive.

It would cost millions of unnecessary city dollars and went against unanimous public opposition, including expert testimony that rehabilitating the more esthetic current tower without this destruction would be better stewardship/more cost effective.

Please join our petition to halt this destructive project.
