Harsher Punishment for the Death of a Motorcyclist in South Carolina
The laws in South Carolina need to be changed and altered. We have had more deaths in 2021 due to motorcycle accidents than we did in 2019 or 2020.
I recently lost my significant other in a horrific motorcycle accident. The only charge that was brought on to the man who pulled out in front of his motorcycle was a failure to yield to oncoming traffic. He lost his life. I lost my love. His daughters lost their dad. His family and friends lost a son, a brother, a cousin, A nephew, etc.
All the man that is responsible will receive, are a few points on his license and a fine. He was able to drive his own truck home that night.. This petition is started in honor of an amazing man. Robert "Soap" Sopolosky. His name should be spread all over the world. We need to bring light to the fact that South Carolina does not have strict enough laws regarding our motorcyclist. He was wearing his helmet. He was sober. This accident could have been avoided and his life could have been spared. The specific intersection in which he was tragically killed, does not have a red light or even a flashing signal.
Things need to change. We have to bring awareness and light to this subject. My main goal here is to make sure that light is shining. I've lost the love of my life. His honor will live forever.
