On Tuesday, October 18th the Moore County Commissioners will convene and on their agenda is the appointment of a new member to the Foxfire Planning and Zoning Board. This appointment fills a vacancy on that is designed to provide representation for residents of the Foxfire Village Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) on the Planning and Zoning Board. 

Residents of the Foxfire ETJ do not support the proposed appointee (Neil Tighe) that has presented to the Moore County Commissioners to fill the vacancy on the Foxfire Village Planning and Zoning Board. 

While the current candidate seems competent, the residents of the Foxfire Village ETJ do not know what he stands for.  He hasn’t attended any Foxfire Planning and Zoning board meetings since April 2022, wherein many ETJ residents became more engaged as various development proposed development projects have impacted us in the ETJ. Furthermore, this candidate has not made any attempt to reach out to residents, engage residents, or otherwise make any effort to appear interested in our concerns for the future of the Foxfire ETJ.   

Linda Mansfield has attended numerous Planning and Zoning meetings as well as Foxfire Village Council meeting.  We all know her, have admired what she has done to improve the value of her farm, and know she will represent the best interest of the ETJ as well as all of Foxfire.  Linda offered to serve on the Planning and Zoning Board at a Village Council meeting with over 50 ETJ members present, and it seemed as though she would be the most logical choice to be nominated to this open seat. 

The Foxfire Village Council gets to appoint the other 4 members of the Planning and Zoning Board. This specific seat is intended to represent the interests of the residents of the Foxfire ETJ on the Planning and Zoning Board. Therefore, we think it is important that this vacancy be filled by someone the residents’ support. 

Mrs. Mansfield willingness to serve, coupled with her involvement with matters that are of the utmost importance to ETJ residents, allow us to see that she is the most appropriate person to fill this vacancy. 

This petition is to record support from the residents of the Foxfire ETJ in their support of Mrs. Mansfield's appointment to this vacant seat. We respectfully request that the County Commissioners reject the proposed appointee, and instead appoint Linda Mansfield as the Foxfire Village Planning and Zoning Board’s ETJ Representative.
