Say NO to the rezoning application at 1055 Harwood St., Vancouver BC

The City of Vancouver is entertaining ignoring its own height restrictions and allowing a developer, who bought out a co-op in Vancouver's West End, to increase the overall height of a proposed building from 190 ft to 300 ft. That means the property is zoned for about 17 floors and the developer is seeking approval from the City to build 32 floors.
Those living and working in the immediate area will, if the request to amend the zoning restriction is granted by the City, have their homes shaded forever loosing the valuable and short-lived sunshine on our homes. Can you imagine what it would be like to have your balcony or patio and even your windows to your home shaded and never having sunshine?
Isn't it about time that City Hall started listening to the needs of the very people in our community? In this case the added height on this proposed building will place shadow lines into many of our homes permanently.
If all the professionals determined when the restrictions were put in place in 2013 that 17 floors (190 feet) was the maximum that should be built, then why should the developer be allowed to come along and change that against the citizen's best interest?
We are longtime supporters of Vancouver's West End and we instruct Vancouver City Hall to follow its own zoning regulations.
