Rob Horton started this petition to Lincolnshire County Council

Saltfleetby, as you will probably know, has a very real problem with speeding, with HGVs in particular damaging properties via vibration and causing large and deep potholes. it is not a safe environment to even take a walk, and many residents have complained about speeding vehicles and the state of the roads and footpaths. Saltfleetby Parish Council sold their electronic speed signage (at a significant loss) in 2019/20 as it was routinely ignored by traffic and enforcement appears to be non-existent. Some passive signage was installed in 2020 but has had no effect on speeds. Parish Council minutes show some discussion regarding the use of handheld speed cameras by residents, but these have come to nought.

A speed survey was conducted between 23/2/21 and 01/3/21 adjacent to Ings Lane junction with Main Road Saltfleetby and 35.7% of traffic was travelling in excess of the 40MPH limit please note that the Camera Van was parked in full view of traffic and so speeds obtained were undoubtedly lower than otherwise would have been the case. Additionally, a freedom of Information request made to the Lincolnshire Police reveals that in the 10 years ending 28/2/2021 there have been a total of 13 RTC's, 3 serious, where speed was a contributory factor.

We recently asked residents to contact us with their views of the village roads, footpaths and speed via the Saltfleetby Newsletter and we have had in excess of 30 responses, despite not everyone reading the newsletter. we set out a snapshot of the response below.

93% of residents responding to an article in the Saltfleetby Newsletter believe that the existing 40MPH limit is not adhered to and 87% confirmed that they experience vibration and damage to their property as a result.

This issue is not new one, Highways have had previous complaints in the past and indeed a petition which encompassed virtually the whole village was sent to Highways back in July 2014 and set out the problems caused by speed and HGV vibration in some detail, and this was subsequent to complaints which date back to the 1990's, but nothing has been done to resolve the problem and the damage to properties via vibration of the road, and speeding continues.

Lets get Lincolnshire County Council Highways to take notice this time!
