Keep the Lincoln Corn Exchange Market open
This petition had 2,180 supporters
Lincolnshire co-op is intending to close the Corn Exchange Market, the only traditional market in the city selling fruit and veg. It is doing this without regard to the future of the market stalls, which will be forced out of business. Without this market people in Lincoln will have difficulty buying fresh fruit and veg., at time when improving the nation's diet and getting everyone to eat their "five a day" has never been more important. Other stalls in the market will be lost too, ending businesses valued by local people.
Out of town supermarkets have killed off local greengrocers, but this market has continued to enable Lincoln people of all incomes to buy their "five a day" at affordable prices and even if they don't have a car! Now the supposedly ethical and community spirited Lincolnshire co-op wants to kill it off.
Please sign the petition as a part of a campaign to make the co-op change its mind.
