Taylor Miller, a 13 year old student at Irving Middle School in Lincoln, Nebraska was hit by a car and killed on November 12th, 2016. As student who work on the yearbook they decided to add in a memorial for her, seeing as she was a fun loving competative girl that was known school-wide. This past weekend students were informed that the yearbooks would not be handed out due to a violation of school policy. The pages for Taylor's memorial had to taken out before being handed to students. Earlier today (May 24, 2016) I found out that they were honoring a coach at Lincoln Southwest High School who died last October. They say that the coaches memorial does not violate guidelines seeing as it was "indirectly" aimed at a cancer awareness event shortly after. Parents, students, and teachers of LPS have been outraged specifically at Irving. Please help to convince the school board that Taylor, along with other students, deserve to be remembered just as much as anyone else.
