Please support my plea to reinstate the basket swings in all Lincoln’s parks. My 2 year old has never known there to be basket swings in any of our local parks, only the empty frames they once swung in. I believe this to be one of the most inclusive pieces of equipment available in parks nationwide and yet since 2016 they have been absent in all public play areas in Lincoln. The HSE and local council have had four years to investigate the safety of these swings, and yet every other council run or privately owned park continues to have them or install them. Case in point: the photograph shows us using a brand new swing on a housing estate in Wiltshire, I can only conclude that swings are safe and are long overdue a return to our local parks. Most of Lincoln’s parks are already ill equipped or in a state of disrepair in comparison to other places in the county, so the absence of these much loved swings only highlights the poor facilities further. Please support this petition in order to raise the profile of this ongoing issue. I believe the council need to bring the swings out of storage as soon as possible and allow our children and the equipment to once again be used to their full potential.
