Limau Estate Woodlands

Save the woodlands along Bedok Rise and Jalan Limau Kasturi.

You may be aware that the piece of land at the junction of Bedok Rise and Bedok Road will be developed into a condominium once it is sold off in August. This will clear a substantial part of the secondary forest along Bedok Rise.

What you may not be aware of are the future plans to further clear the lush greenery up the end of Bedok South Road, level the hill and build more condominiums. The existing Bedok Rise road will also be extended and widened to a four-lane road. This is in addition to the Eco condominium that is already being constructed along Bedok South Road.

There has been a rampant and systematic destruction of green areas in Singapore recently including Bukit Brown Cemetery, Dairy Farm Estate, Pasir Ris Woodlands, and now, Limau Estate. The destruction of the greenery, extension of the roads and introduction of several thousand residences will destroy the entire estate, as we know it.

Apart from supporting many species of wildlife, such as the Common Palm Civet (Musang), Blue-throated Bee-eater, Rufous-tailed Tailorbird, Common Golden-backed Woodpecker, etc., we must not discount the aesthetic values of nature areas or reserves as well as their contribution as a carbon sink and in preventing storm water runoff. A significant aspect of the wooded areas that is often overlooked is how it helps to cool the surrounding environment.

Don’t let their cooling measures, destroy your cooling measures!

What you can do to prevent the destruction of your environment

We have a petition form, which will be circulated among the residents soon. Your support is needed to sign this petition so our MP, Dr. Maliki, knows how concerned we are about our environment.

This will be the first step, which will lead to further discussions with the relevant government agencies, hopefully with a positive outcome.

We will contact you soon on the petition and will also provide further information.

In the meantime, if you have further queries, please do not hesitate to contact:
