START IMMEDIATE REFORMS TO PROTECT PATIENTS FROM RAPE AND OTHER RIGHTS VIOLATIONS
This petition had 1,525 supporters
The rape allegations at Kenyatta National Hospital cannot be wished away. Rape can be shameful, traumatizing and stigmatizing to patients like to everybody else. This calls for every possible effort to be put in place measures to protect patients irrespective of whether or not people confess being victims. No patient deserves any form of humiliation or abuse while receiving medical attention.
The primary responsibility of ensuring that Kenyatta National Hospital is safe for all patients lies with the hospital personnel and the management cannot transfer this responsibility to any other institution. Equally, the strive for universal health care cannot be realized unless patients enjoy safe spaces in health faciilties.
By signing this petition, we are asking the management of Kenyatta National Hospital, through the Chief Executive Officer to immediately institute internal investigations, processes and procedure to promote patient safety and protection from rape and other patients' rights violations while involving various stakeholders.
