Why this petition matters

Ligon Magnet Middle School is known for holding end-of-year dances for it's 8th grade students. These dances are basically prom, but for middle schoolers. In past years, due to COVID-19, we have not been able to hold an 8th grade formal. However, now that the pandemic has started calming down, we are calling for a formal. 8th graders this year have done an excellent job with their school work, and each 8th grade student deserves to have a chance to attend this formal.

If we achieve our goal of having a formal, we will ask for it to be masked, and maybe even vaccination required. Outdoors is also a possibility, but we hope to hold it in the gym as past classes have done.

The 2021-2022 class of Ligon has many students that are asking for this formal to be held. It would truly be a gift to the student body. Also, if accepted, the Ligon Student Council and possibly National Junior Honor Society along with the Lady Little Blues could help with the planning as well as setup.

The Ligon StuCo fundraising committee is able to raise money to pay the expenses of the formal, and cover any other neccessities.

Ligon, we don't want to have to discontinue this tradition! Let this year be the start of the continuation of this tradition, and bring it back for future Ligon classes.
