Since the beginning of 2020 The Australian Government has stated that exemptions to travel overseas will only be granted for compelling and extremely compassionate grounds or in the case of death of a close family relative. However, the cases that are granted exemption to travel overseas are extremely very low. Furthermore, most applications are rejected even after re-applying several times and providing all necessary documents and stating they are also fully vaccinated and are willing to abide and follow the rules and regulations on their return. We feel the overseas travel ban to meet ones loved ones is too harsh a decision which is causing immense emotional and physical stress for both family living in Australia and Overseas.

We request the Prime Minister and Australian Federal Government to consider the following request :

1. Due to COVID 19 the  ban on overseas travel has denied thousands  of Australian who have families living overseas not being able to visit them for nearly 2 years. We ask the Australian Government to lift this ban by October 2021 so that Australians who have families overseas can see them before Christmas 2021. Especially, Australians whose family members or spouses who are sick or parents who are ailing and aged should not have to apply for a travel exemption.

2. Australians who are fully vaccinated should get travel exemption granted without waiting for weeks to get an answer from immigration.

3. Australians who have a sick family member overseas should be allowed to travel ASAP.
