Tomas Lopez was fired from his position as a lifegaurd at Jeff Ellis and Associates after saving a drowning man at Hallendale Beach, Florida. Lopez was fired because, according to the company, "We have liability issues and can't go out of the protected area" and the drowning man was outside of Lopez's "appointed area".
This petition is for the company, Jeff Ellis and Associates, to change the rules regarding lifegaurds. If there is a person needing assistance, it should not matter if the person needing help is in an "appointed area". Lifegaurds are there to help people and keep them safe. I also petition to reinstate Tomas Lopez (if he wants the job) back at his previous position. This injustice of firing someone for saving someone is not what a lifegaurd is about! Please help Tomas Lopez get his job back and make this company change their rules!
