Helmet Cannot be optional in Gujarat or in any State Too. 

We are losing lives on roads and especially the Two Wheeler Riders (without Helmet) who are the most vulnerable Road Users on Roads. We are also losing the youngsters who are the direct users of MTW, hence it has become more important that rules like wearing Helmet should not be effected by anyone. 

Non-wearing of helmets by two-wheeler riders caused 43,614 deaths and accounted for 28.8 percent of total road accident deaths in the country during 2018.

As per the UN, wearing a good quality motorcycle helmet (Standardised) can reduce the risk of death by ±39% and severe head injury by >72%. The data depicts that making helmets “Optional” will surely increase the number of fatalities amongst the two-wheeler riders.

So We request all State Governments of India to be strict with the mandatory rule of Wearing helmet while riding a two wheeler or as a pillion rider.
