Lieutenant Governor of Ontario: Refuse Royal Assent of Bill 31 (replacement to Bill 5).

The bill itself is an unjustified intrusion into an election that was already in progress, and the recourse to s. 33 is a gross abuse of the Charter. If the Ontario govt is allowed to set this precedent, I fear that we will see similar attacks on our Charter rights, and the role of the judiciary, repeated across the country.
