I grew up in Toronto. It's been blocked by the courts once. It won't stand up to scrutiny or challenge.

This is an egregious abuse of power. There is no emergency requiring use of Section 33 (the notwithstanding clause) and no mandate from the people of Ontario to make this change at all as it was never mentioned during the election campaign. If the government wants "certainty" for the election and to end the "chaos", they should stop this ridiculous, dictatorial meddling.

surely the Crown's representative will not consone the frivolous use of the NOTWITHSTANDING Clause to disrupt an election already in progress, and to steal our rights under the Charter of Rights.

The bill itself is an unjustified intrusion into an election that was already in progress, and the recourse to s. 33 is a gross abuse of the Charter. If the Ontario govt is allowed to set this precedent, I fear that we will see similar attacks on our Charter rights, and the role of the judiciary, repeated across the country.

This bill violates my charter rights. Any use of the non-withstanding used for vengeance during an election as this is shouldn't be allowed ever. This is meddling with an ongoing election, and gerrymandering, and thus a violation of my rights. It's an insult and an erosion of democratic institutions. Please refuse Royal Assent on this bill. Please stand up for Canadians and for the Crown.

I believe this is setting a bad precedent. It's heavy handed and vindictive. It's use has its place. This is not it.

This Bill is wrong and should not be signed by the Lieutenant Governor. Doug Ford's agenda is only to show his former colleagues he is a dictator to be feared and will run over anyone in his way. He is a dangerous man who has alot of deep seeded hatred towards many. He should be fired.
